Learning Through Play

We hope that many of you have been able to access the resources shared in the year group folders however we fully recognise that ‘setting up school at home’ can pose challenges. Learning does not have to happen sitting down at a table with books to write in. Your child may be more stimulated by learning in an outdoor environment such as going for a walk together to see what you can spot and count, reading the timetable at a bus stop, measuring the height of plants in the garden, looking through the kitchen cupboards to find out which types of packaging are recyclable or sequencing them according to weight. Practical play activities provide a golden opportunity for children to develop their communication skills, responsibility, creativity and vocabulary. It’s also lots of fun! Have a look through these activity ideas and send us pictures to show how you are getting on! We can’t wait to hear from you.
